Term 2 Character Writing for ANZAC

On Monday we wrote a character description about a soldier in our book of the week "One Boy's War" written by Lynne Huggins-Cooper and Ian Benfold Hayword.

The Army

One Boy’s War is a story about Sydney who goes to World War One.  A soldier is a person that is part of the army and fights for their country.  They need boots because the trenches are wet and muddy.  It’s not like Disneyland with warm weather and comfortable seats.  They are army coloured boots with no designs on them just plain.  The helmet protects their heads and also saves the delightful brain.  It is a very funny, gigantic, gorgeous slouch hat.  It protects the head from gunshots, bombs and flying objects.  The jacket is as army green as a swamp.  The jacket is army green because it make you camo to the tree and also hides you so the other army team doesn’t see you coming.
